Alyssa Campbell
Alyssa Campbell is a baroque violinist and violist based in NYC and is currently a graduate student at The Juilliard School where she studies historical performance. Prior to moving to New York, Alyssa graduated with a Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the University of Michigan and her primary instructors include Cynthia Roberts, Elizabeth Blumenstock, Robert Mealy, Aaron Berofsky, and Joseph Gascho.
As a baroque violinist, Alyssa has performed with ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants, The Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, and Juilliard415, which included a recent tour of Germany with Yale’s Schola Cantorum. She has been a part of concert series’ such as the Dans les Jardins de William Christie, Music Before 1800, Gotham Early Music Scene, The Bohemians (New York Musicians Club), and the Carmel Bach Festival, in addition to participating in festivals such as the Berwick Academy, American Bach Soloists Academy, and the Tafelmusik Summer Baroque Institute. In 2016, she co-founded the Detroit Chamber Orchestra, an ensemble dedicated to making classical music in the Detroit area free and accessible to the public.
Alyssa focuses on music spanning the 16th-19th centuries and aims to expand the field of early music to include works by composers that are underrepresented in the field. When not playing music, she enjoys collecting vintage sheet music, eating spicy food, and kayaking.
